The Charlie Murphy Band is an Austin, TX, based, classic country styled ensemble, formed around the quick picking, beautiful guitar work and smooth vocals of Charlie Murphy, and also featuring Melodie Zapata on drums and vocals. Their original songs have a classic country feel, showcasing both catchy melodies and some mighty fancy guitar picking. With an emphasis on creating a fun foundation for the dance crowd, their high energy live show is an eclectic mix of country covers from the 1960's through 1990's, both male and female artists, a few newer country hits that still have that classic sound, a little bit of Texas Swing, a touch of Bluegrass, and some of their own interesting arrangements, along with some of their originals here and there.
